When to Go
The best time to visit Yangon is during the cool and dry season, from November to February. During these months, temperatures are pleasant (20°C–30°C) with low humidity and minimal rainfall, making it ideal for sightseeing and outdoor activities. March and April are hot, while May to October is the rainy monsoon season.
Burmese culture is deeply rooted in Theravada Buddhism, emphasizing respect, modesty, and kindness. You'll often see people chewing betel nut, a traditional stimulant. Public displays of affection between couples are generally uncommon and best avoided. Always be mindful of pointing your feet towards people, Buddha images, or sacred objects, as this is considered disrespectful. A polite 'Mingalaba' (hello) and 'Jezu tin ba deh' (thank you) will be greatly appreciated by locals.
