The best time to visit Touba is during the dry season from November to May, when temperatures are more moderate and rainfall is minimal. December through February offers the most comfortable weather with daytime temperatures around 25-30°C (77-86°F) and cooler nights. Avoid the rainy season from June to October, particularly August and September, when heavy rains can make travel difficult. Also avoid the Grand Magal pilgrimage period (usually October or November, based on Islamic calendar), when the city becomes extremely crowded with millions of pilgrims, accommodations are scarce, and normal services are disrupted.
Touba operates under special religious regulations as a holy city of the Mouride Brotherhood. Alcohol is prohibited throughout the city, and conservative dress is expected.
